A horrific acid assault has left a South Australian man in hospital with critical burns after he put up an effort to attempt to battle off his alleged attacker.

Police vehicles and fireplace crews had been referred to as to a property at Andrews Farms in Adelaide’s northern suburbs simply after 9pm on Tuesday, after the 55-year-old man was discovered lined in chemical compounds – a combination of hydrochloric and petrol.

The man lined in chemical compounds was taken to Lyell McEwin Hospital to be handled for critical burns to his head, shoulder and arm.

The 62-year-old alleged attacker was additionally taken to hospital with head accidents.
